The Daily Monster Papers 123

I was amazed when I first saw Stefan Bucher’s Daily Monster website. Stefan successfully creates a variety of monsters, some cute and some scary, all starting with a simple ink blot. If you watch the first video on his homepage (344 Daily Monster 01) you can watch his design process. I’ll admit, within seconds I was entranced just by his ability to write backwards and upside down! And if that’s not enough, just wait for the ‘real’ artwork to begin. He places some ink on the page and blows air through a straw to spread it around. Then he embraces the random path of the ink and begins to add onto it. Within seconds (at least on the time lapse video) you witness the creation of a new monster. If you don’t like the first one, try out the second – Stefan makes a monster EVERY DAY! And if you are anything like me, you will fall in love with his quirky monster designs. If you are really head over heels, you can purchase his book (with included DVD) “100 Days of Monsters” at Amazon.com. Also make sure you check out Stefan’s site 344design.com to learn more about him and view more of his artwork.
